Recently, I attended a unique experience of sound therapy at Avata Wellness, Baluwatar. The sound bath session, hosted by Pranavayuj in the serene studio of Avata Wellness Center, was an experience unlike any other—a mystical, calming retreat from the busyness of everyday life. For 40-45 minutes, I was enveloped in a beautifully woven tapestry of sounds, connecting with my inner vibrations and guiding me into a deep state of relaxation. It was a fortunate opportunity to reconnect with myself and embrace stillness.
Sound Alchemy – What is it?
Sound Alchemy is a heart-centered form of sound therapy that harnesses intentional vibrations to invoke compassion, deepen self-awareness, and facilitate mind-body equilibrium. This practice utilizes specific instruments, harmonies, and frequencies to release tension, rebalance emotions, and remove energetic blockages. Sound healing has long been recognized for its stress-reducing and relaxation-enhancing effects, helping individuals attune to their inner rhythm and elevate their vibrational state. Each sound bath session is a journey—an opportunity to surrender to the moment and let the sound waves recalibrate the body and mind.
The Experience
The session began with expansive meditation techniques, incorporating deep breathing and chanting mantras to align with each of the seven chakras. As we lay down on mats, eye masks gently covering our eyes, we surrendered to the symphony of sounds. Our hosts, Nabi and Prakrit, guided us through rhythmic breathing while introducing an array of musical instruments.
The sounds that filled the space mimicked elements of nature—rainfall, the rush of wind, birdsong, and the gentle lapping of ocean waves. Each strike of the singing bowl carried a unique resonance, creating a sense of floating weightlessly. The ambient sounds encouraged an emptying of the mind, allowing us to fully immerse in the present moment. By the end of the session, I felt a sense of positivity, calmness, and inner peace. Beyond individual healing, this practice fostered collective energy, reinforcing the power of community and shared experience. It was a soul-stirring inward journey, offering a rare pause from the rush of life.

What instruments were used in the session?
Nabila: We incorporated a variety of instruments, each with its unique vibrational purpose. The singing bowl produces deep, resonating tones that align the body’s energy. The rain sticks mimic the soothing sound of rainfall, while the ocean drum replicates the calming waves of the sea. Wind chimes evoke the whisper of the breeze, and shamanic drumming mirrors the pulse of the earth, grounding us in its rhythm. Additionally, instruments like chakapas, seed pot rattles, and gongs work to dispel negative energy and promote serenity.
As a first-time participant, I was amazed at how effortlessly I was transported into a meditative state. There was nothing to do but lie down, breathe, and allow the vibrations to guide you. Time seemed to pause as the rhythmic sounds washed over me, leaving me in a state of tranquillity.
