Some dog breeds are very obedient and quick learners whereas some are a little stubborn and slow. But, no matter how long your dog takes to get trained, they must receive the essential basic training.

Most of the dogs in Nepal are not trained because the owners feel like it isn't important. But when you look, you will figure out that there are many pros of having a trained dog. While owners themselves can train their dogs to some extent but, if you are busy or lack the patience then a trainer is highly recommended.

Below are some of the trainings that will not just educate your dogs but will also make your life easier when tackling problematic behaviors:

Socialization

You don’t want your dog to be antisocial and go on biting any new person who visits your home. Or it could be the other way round where your dog fears of meeting new people and developing social anxiety. Socialized dogs are less likely to develop behaviour problems and are generally more welcoming. Socialization is a genuine concern even for dogs and thus training is necessary. Socialization training focuses on teaching your furry-love to accept new people, or even animals by exposing it to them. Basic activities such as taking them out for walks, having them hang around other dogs, people and elements of the outdoor can help instil confidence and boost social behaviour.

Stay!

Stay, as it sounds, is a command which disciplines your dog while eating. Your dog pauses and waits till you tell it to ‘Eat’.This command can be really helpful and even save your dog’s life. Wondering how? It’s pretty simple, this particular training develops patience in your dog and it wouldn’t jump directly to eat its food. It will stay still until you command s/he to eat. With this training, your dog wouldn’t eat anything that unknown people give as some would offer food that is not suitable or have it be laced with medicine that could hamper your dog’s health. Not just the word ‘eat’, you can even use words of your language for ordering your dog to have food so that others won’t have a hint. As a result, the ‘stay command’ could be a life-saver command!

Potty-Training

If you are fed up with cleaning your dog’s poop from all around the house, this training might be worthwhile for you! Patience and consistency are the keys to potty-training your dog. For this, take your dog to the same spot; your garden, wash-room or anywhere you would like him to do his business every 30 minutes to an hour for some weeks. Subsequently, your dog or puppy will develop a habit to go to the same spot to do his business.

The Namaste

Whenever we meet our relatives or if our relatives come to visit us too, the first thing we do is to greet them by doing a ‘Namaste’. This might be shocking to some of us that you can train your dog to do Namaste by simply teaching them to join their hands. So why not teach them to welcome our guests too? As just a simple act of Namaste can make someone’s day! Moreover, it could be fun for both you and your dog!
